Rachel Walker is a Singer/Songwriter and Performer who recently released her sophomore EP in September 2016 entitled The Ra[E]volution; a 7 song project that documents her musical, personal and spiritual evolution. Rachel is currently promoting her project, while booking live engagements and offering unified support to other independent artists.
Originally from the Bronx, Rachel discovered her love for music and sound at Tufts University, in Medford MA, where she was a member and musical director of the a capella ensemble “Essence”. Rachel along with members of the group, pursued and secured funding to record the groups first CD project. The experience became the impetus for what was to come. After graduation, Rachel continued her journey in music by singing and writing with local artists in the New York City. She learned how to operate and engineer recording sessions and decided to write, record and release her debut project Walk With Me in 2009.
Following the release, Rachel was invited to go on a ten city tour in France as part of the legendary Funk-Soul group Sister Sledge, opening up for headliners Kool and The Gang. She continue to tour internationally as a vocalist with the group, in countries such as The UK, Scotland, Beirut, Morocco, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Rome, and Copenhaggen, for live events and television appearance. In between show dates, Rachel was invited to honor Motown legend Martha Reeves at the Make a Wish Foundation’s 7th Annual Prestige Awards in Hudson Valley, NY and within that timeframe independently leveraged a sponsorship and distribution deal with Palmer’s Beauty Products for the event.
Most recently, she was invited to perform with Sister Sledge at the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia, PA for the Pope Francis. Rachel continues to work on her solo and collaborative projects. She currently resides in Westchester, NY.
